Exploding Boobs
Well we've had shoe bombers and underwear bombers, so I suppose it is only natural that people will continue to search for and experiment with even newer and more creative ways to destroy themselves and others.
And what have our friends come up with now? Exploding Boobs. Yep. That's right. Worldnet Daily is reporting that "agents for Britain's MI5 intelligence service have discovered that Muslim doctors trained at some of Britain's leading teaching hospitals have returned to their own countries to fit surgical implants filled with explosives [into women suicide bombers]."
The women "recruited by al-Qaida are known to have had the explosives inserted in their breasts under techniques similar to breast enhancing surgery. The lethal explosives – usually PETN (pentaerythritol Tetrabitrate) – are inserted during the operation inside the plastic shapes. The breast is then sewn up."
Oh wonder, oh joy. I wonder if full body scans will detect this. How are exploding boobs to be dealt with if they are detected? And what is still yet to come.
On the more morbid side of the issue, I wonder how those bombs are actually detonated. How much PETN is needed for an effective blast radius? And what is an effective blast radius when PETN is detonated within the closed confines of a human body?

A friend of mine recently proposed a unique solution which may have some merit. His idea is to have all passengers pass through a booth that will automatically cause any explosives someone is carrying to detonate. He figures that would be a win-win for everyone but the bomber. There would be no racial profiling, people would not be exposed to full body scans or other forms of radiation, the expense of lengthy trials would be eliminated, and justice would be swift and sure. It would probably also speed up the security lines at the airports. What do you think?

xray will detect it....any muslim woman with breast implants should be banned from flying since their religion doesn't go for that type of personal adornment anyway...
But we don't xray air passengers, nor can we due to the high risk of cancer, especially for frequent flyers. So we are back to the question of how we detect boob bombs.

X-ray can't tell what is in an implant - just that there is an implant there. Liquid gel explosives will look just like sterile liquid implant gel. And there is talk of x-raying passengers already, and precious little has been said about the risk of radiation exposure. What do you think those "full body scanners" they're talking about, are exactly? It's an x-ray machine.
@radicalramblings - uh, i know, that is why i said to disallow non citizen muslim women with implants from boarding planes...the level of radiation from those machines is the least of yur worries...ain't enuf to lose any sleep over, come to think of it...i wouldn't lose sleep over anything..hahahaha

I'm sorry that you have bought into the lie that constant, repeated exposure to radiation is a safe and necessary invasion of not only your privacy, but also your health.
@radicalramblings - Full body scans don't penetrate below the skin level, so any implanted device will never be sceen by them. I've read that they don't produce enough radiation to have any ill effect, though I remain very skeptical about that.
@tialoca_talks - How do you intend to determine whether a muslim woman has breast implants if we can't use xrays on them. You do know that a physical, hands on seach is out of the question. What's the answer?
@radicalramblings - hahaahahhaa...just how often do yu fly?? don't be silly...but, if yu wanna feel sorry, i guess yu get to...
@thereluctantsinger - i didn't say we can't use xray...oh, but i'd just as soon disallow any visiting visas from most of those countries anyhoo....

If x-rays are prefectly harmless, then why is the FDA trying to rein in excess radiation received from necessary medical procedures (LINK)? Or, to phrase it another way, why is the FDA concerning itself with x-rays from medical procedures, if it's perfectly okay to routinely expose travelers to unnecessary x-ray radiation in airports?

This article may interest you regarding the risks of full-body scanners, and what agencies OTHER THAN our government are saying about it... http://gnosis474.blogspot.com/2010/02/airport-body-scanning-raises-radiation.html

My husband seems to think the levels of radiation are too low to be dangerous but I'm still skeptical. Not to mention, I think full body scanners are an invasion of my privacy.
He thought that the density of PETN would have a different density in the breast implants to be seen by an X-ray...but I'm not so sure.
@radicalramblings - why does the FDA try to rein in how fast certain drugs are allowed out? why do government agencies do anything? to justify their existance, that is why...ppppfffftttttttttt....however, yu are comparing apples to oranges...the different levels used are not comparable...but hey, i gather yu are a consumate worrier, so i'll let yu worry for both of us....hahahah
The idea of a "boob bomb" would be funny if it was not such a serious threat
What can we do? A booth that would set off any explosives inside the clothes (or even the body) would probably also have potential to cause other bodily problems. Therefore, too dangerous. And, how would we be sure that the booth was strong enough to contain the damage? We are sunk :wha:
I'm fascinated by the concept. How do you suppose they plan on detonating them?
@tychecat - That was my question about the bomber. If you're referring to "the booth" those are details to be worked out. How do you think the bomber would detonate them?
