  • It's Not My Fault

President Obama likes to say it's not his fault.   You know, it's all the fault of the previous administration.  He just inherited the problems, and then the Congress wouldn't do anything.  That sort of thing.  Well he's a few future cuecards he can use during the coming campaign.

    * "It’s not my fault we invaded Libya."
    * "It’s not my fault that we have destabilized Egypt who is possession of M1 Abrams tanks and F-16’s."
    * "It’s not my fault that tax receipts are falling."
    * "It’s not my fault that good Americans can’t find work."
    * "It’s not my fault that I’ve not done what had to be done to get this economy moving."
    * "It’s not my fault that I’ve so mismanaged NASA that we can’t even launch a capsule with an American in it without paying the Russians."
    * "It’s not my fault that guns have been given to the worst of the worst because my attorney general ok’d the dumbest idea since the Edsel."
    * "It's not my fault that this war for one side of the same muslim/arab coin is lining up for a mushroom cloud."

Oh yes, one more thing: now GM has  had to discontinue sales of the Chevy Volt and layoff 1300 people because the car won't sell.  I wonder if he's going to say it's not his fault, even though he twisted GM's arm and forced the company to build the thing to begin with, not because it was a sound business decision, but because he thought he could singlehandedly force the American public to buy into an idea whose time had not yet come.

Would you like me to continue? Because I’m ready willing and able to do so.  Do us all Mr. Obama: drop out of the race.  Better yet, resign, and save us from anymore of your blundering.  Whoever takes your place can't possibly do the job any worse than you.

  • Penn State Hypocrites

Joe Paterno passed away yesterday less than 3 months after being fired by Penn State University for "not doing enough" to report an alleged case of child abuse by one of his assistant coaches.  Now Penn State wants to honor him.  Sounds good, but it's Bull Shit, and Penn State now appears to be nothing but a bunch of hypocrites.  IF Joe did what they accused him of doing, they have no business honoring him 2 1/2 months after destroying him.  On the other hand, IF Joe did not do what they accused him of and they were just trying to cover their own asses and the reputation of the school at Joe's expense, then Penn State would be better off apologizing publicly to the family and fans.

Frankly, if I were the family, I would arrange to borrow a local high shool stadium for the use of the fans who want to honor Joe Paterno, and I definitely would not invite any speakers from Penn State.  They did what they "had" to do, and now I would respond.

  • Poor Joe

Joe Paterno, the winningest college football coach ever, is likely going to lose his job at Penn State after the final game of the season.  Paterno has been widely criticized for failing to involve the police when he learned of an allegation that one of his assistant coaches may have assaulted a young boy in 2002.  Other allegations have now come to light involving the same assistant coach.

Apparently, Coach Paterno was told of the assault by a student, but did not see it himself.  False accusations are made all the time by students who have some kind of grudge against teachers and coaches.  So rather than calling the police with a then unsubstantiated, heresay allegation and bringing bad press upon the school without proof of wrongdoing, he instead reported it to his superiors.  An internal investigation was done, and the campus police decided that there wasn't enough evidence to proceed any further.

I think he did the right thing.  You can't bring bad press upon the school based on unsubstantiated accusations without being more certain than Paterno could have been at the time.  Bringing the situation to his superiors was the right way to handle it, yet the school is now going to push him out.  Ironically, that same school would likely have pushed him out if he had gone directly to the police without first involving them.

Too bad.  Penn State should be taking the heat, not Joe Paterno.  What's happening to him isn't right, but that's the way the system works.  From the moment he first learned of a possible problem, he was damned if he did, and damned if he didn't.

Update:  Penn State didn't wait for the end of the season.  Apparently hoping that the school will lose some of the media heat, it let Joe Paterno go now.

  • Conrad Murray - Is He Guilty?

Did Conrad Murray give Michael Jackson a lethal dose of the anesthetic propofol?  Maybe and maybe not.  Personally I don't think he did so, certainly not with criminal intent.  He may have been negligent; he may be guilty of bad judgement; but was it a criminal offense?

No!  The only way the prosecution can prove that this was a criminal act is to show intent to do harm (which they have not done), or to show that the administration of propofol outside of a hospital setting is against the law.  If that is true, then Murray's use of propofol in Jackson's home would be a criminal act.

But if propofol must be used by a board certified anesthesiologist in a hospital setting, then why didn't the prosecution emphasize this point in closing arguments?  And what about the drug store that was dispensing the propofol to Dr. Murray by the case? Is that legal. Apparently so since the store hasn't been charged with uncontrolled distribution of a controlled substance.

Dr. Murray does appear to be guilty of medical negligence. Certainly there are grounds for a civil suit for wrongful death.  But I don't think I could convict Dr. Murray of criminally negligent manslaughter.

Update: Guilty. The jury was concerned about the use of Propofol outside the hospital and the quantity Dr. Murray was using.  Will he appeal?

  • Muammar Gaddafi's Death

Muammar Gaddafi is dead, and Libya can now begin the long process of recovery from that man's 42 year rein of terror.  At home, the news of Gaddafi's death hit the relatives of the Pan Am 103 bombing in different ways.  The brother of one of those killed in the Pan Am 103 bombing was recorded saying that it's too bad that Gaddafi could not die multiple times.

I can understand that feeling.  No one wants to be known for wishing someone would be killed, or would die horribly; but while we say we don't want revenge, we often do.  That's only natural when a loved on is lost.  For those that feel that way, their wish may have come true.

It is being reported out of Tripoli that when the caravan that Gaddafi was riding in was bombed, he crawled out of his vehicle and into a sewer line, from which he was dragged screaming and begging for his life.  According the news report I saw, he was then pummeled, kicked, and beaten with his own shoes (the ultimate insult in Muslim society) before being shot in the back of the head.  His body was then paraded through the streets on the hood of a vehicle while people danced and chanted something about the blood of the martyrs not being in vain.

So if you are one of those who wish he could have died multiple times or in some horrible fashion, you may have gotten your wish.  If the report is true, he did not go quietly into that long night.  And in death, he is being further humiliated in the Muslim world by not being honored with a proper burial.  Rather, his body has been thrown into a meat locker while those in control decide what to do with it.

Update: After leaving his body to lie around in the freezer for a couple of days, he was subjected to a public viewing for those who wanted to make sure he was dead.  His body was then taken out into the desert and buried at a secret site.

  • GOP Debates

As we go into a new election cycle, debates between candidates are to be expected; but when is enough to much?  I think that televised debates between hopefuls that haven't even gotten the nomination yet are pretty much useless.  Yes, the public gets a chance to see hopefuls, but when eight people get on a stage for an hour, the moderator can't ask any one of them enough serious questions to allow the audience to determine what they believe across a wide spectrum of issues.

In my view, the candidates for nomination would do better to be working the circuit and the backrooms trying to build a base from which they can launch a serious campaign against the opposition candidate.  Then those who actually receive the nomination can have a serious debate or two.

And that's all I have to say about that.

  • The Idiot Is At It Again

As if he didn't take enough flak the last time around, Obama now wants to apologize to Japan for dropping the bombs that ended World War II.  This idiot doesn't seem to learn anything.  He would rather yield to his obsession for trying to apologize for American exceptionalism than do his job.  I can't wait to vote him out of office.  When he goes, we will also get rid of his incompetant clown, Eric Holder.

For those who weren't around back then and want to understand why the bomb was dropped, please read my post Why Did We Nuke Japan?

  • Kudos To Obama

I don't normally have very much good to say about Barack Obama, but on the occassion of the death of Anwar al-Awlaki I must tip my hat to the man.  I'll have to say that he is certainly not afraid to pull the trigger -- meaning he's not afraid to order the killing of certain scumbags that deserve it.

I don't know how many al Qaeda leaders he has targeted, but he has done his part.  And of course we can't forget the killing of three pirates on the high seas and the never to be sufficiently damned enough Osama bin Laden.

Hats of to you for this Mr. President!

  • A Disaster Called Obama

"Barack Obama is solidifying his status as the worst president in American history. The leader who promised us a bright future of peace and fraternity is leading the American empire – and the rest of the world with it – into a dark abyss. Ever since he settled into the Oval Office, Obama has been hopping from one disaster to the next, making every possible mistake, boosting enemies and disregarding allies while ruining everything he touches in the process. To our regret, the heaviest price – for the time being at least – is being paid by residents of the Middle East."

Thus begins an opinion article by Mr. Yigal Walt in the Israeli online publication ynetnews.  The article goes on to point out some of Obama's international blunders that have cost the middle east heavily.  It then says, "A sure sign that Obama has become irrelevant and is no longer taken seriously by anyone is the tendency of other world leaders to listen to him – and then do the exact opposite."

I think that Obama's actions are deliberate and criminal.  Prior to the election, he said this country was not an exceptional nation; he said when he was elected we would have to learn to live with less; he said he under his energy plan the cost of electricity would necessarily rise.

Now look at what he has done.  He has almost wreaked America's space program, and by directing NASA's Administrator to transfer our space technology to Iran, Obama risks a technology transfer that can help Iran attack its neighbors and even ourselves - specifically heavy lift technology that can provide long range capability for rockets and navigation technology that can improve the aim for ballistic missiles.  He has canceled NASA programs, thereby putting people out of work and losing highly valuable and hard to replace skills.  He has shut down almost all oil production in the gulf, putting thousands out of work.  He has discountinued production of both the F16 and the F22 Raptor fighter planes resulting in layoffs in that industry.  He has failed to enforce the immigration laws and actively interferred with the States attempt to do so.  I won't even bother recounting the problems with his outragous Health Care policy.  In fact, just mentioning all of his mistakes and/or deliberate blunders could keep you reading long into the night.  Obama is deliberately trying to destroy America.

"Obama is a living and breathing nightmare.  Now all that’s left is to wait and see whether America’s citizens will be able to remove him from the White House before he destroys everything."

  • Another Missed Opportunity By Obama

president Obama blew it again -- big time.  Why he didn't use the killing of Osama Bin Laden as an excuse to declare victory and withdraw from Afghanistan is beyond me.  He could have started the troop withdrawal and stopped the drone bombings and made a lot of people on both sides of the world happy.

Undoubtedly his advisors are feeding him some story about abandoning folks, but in that area of the world it's just plain crap.  No matter how long we stay there, we will not affect they way people do business there.  When we withdraw, it will go back to the way it was before we went in, and nothing we can do will change that.  The difference is that by leaving now, we can save some lives that will otherwise be lost.

Furthermore, by leaving when Bin Laden was no more, Obama would have been a hero and seen as fulfilling a campaign promise -- sort of -- and he would save a fortune that could be used to stimulate the economy or to pay down the national debt.  By staying, he clearly is breaking another campaign promise made to those who put him in office and is still spending money that would best be used in other ways, and he is continuing to make the locals madder and more resentful of the U.S. than they already were.

The man is incompetent and needs to be kicked out of office!
