  • Enough Already

Still the media will not leave Tiger Woods alone.  Reporters and Paparazzi are camped out everywhere he goes or stays, and all they want to know about is his recent sex scandal.

For crying out loud.  The man has already paid a very steep price for his indiscretions -- emotionally, professionally, monetarily -- yet the leaches still won't let him alone.

Enough is enough.  Old news;  let it go;  and let the man get on with doing his job.

  • Still On My Break

Just a short note to let everyone know that I haven't committed xangacide -- at least not yet.  I'm still on my break, trying to rest and recover from too much political garbage and intrigue over too short a period of time.  I will be back, soon I hope.

  • Weeping Eagle _ 2

    Today my ancestors are weeping.

  • And As If We Didn't Have Enough . . .

to concern ourselves with over this stupid liberal congress, everybody's favorite climate idiot is now blaming the spring rains that the Northeast has experienced on climate change. Well, for once, I must agree with him.  These rains are due to climate change -- from Winter to Spring.  Or maybe Mr. Gore has never heard the ages old prediction that "April showers bring May flowers."

  • Any Other Bill . . .

Any other bill that ran into the kind of trouble the current ObamaCare bill has seen over the last year would have be dead long ago.  The Clinton attempt in 1994 didn't face anything near the opposition that Obama's bill had seen, and it died quickly enough, because President Clinton was smart enough to realize that he was trying to spit against the wind.  Obama, Pelosi, and Reed arent that smart.  They have decided that they will have their way regardless of the wishes of the American People.

It's a matter of personal pride for them at this point.  They can't get a majority vote to support the bill even from among their own Party.  That should tell them there's something wrong with the Bill.  But they don't care.  And if they think the American People will just forget about the "deemed to have passed" scheme, they have another think coming.  November will be a wipe out for them.  But even that isn't important to them at this point.  They would rather force their own will upon the country, regardless of the impact, and regardless of what it will do to their fellow Democrats' careers than swallow their pride and try to craft a realistic bill.

  • The Slaughter Solution

I'm on "Pins-n-Needles" waiting to see what the House of Representatives is going to do with the Senate version of the health care bill.  Pelosi still doesn't have the votes, or she would have brought the bill to the floor for a vote.  She is most likely run scared now, but she has convinced herself that the majority of the people want the bill.  That makes her a very dangerous woman, willing to do anything -- A.n.y.t.h.i.n.g -- to put her idea of heaven on everyone else's plate.

Now I hear that she is considering an idea that would push the bill forward without a formal vote.  The idea, put forth by House Rules Chairwoman Louise Slaughter, would have the House consider the bill passed without a vote on the bill itself after the House approves a "corrections" bill that promises to make unspecified changes to the Senate version later.

Yeah!  Right!! Like who can guarantee that the "Corrections" bill would ever be given a vote, let alone actually pass in the Senate, or be signed by president obama.  If Pelosi and company try to steal our government in this way, California should recall her, and then all of us should vote to bring back public executions and put her and her friends up against the wall.

Anyway, it's getting close.  One way or another we will soon know if the Democrats will finally fold up their tent on this one or risk their careers by infuriating the public.  I sure do wish that Nancy Pelosi herself was up for reelection in November.

  • I actually got a full night's sleep last night.  Feeling much better.  Still using a lot of tissue and doing some coughing, but am definitely past the worst of it.

  • Feeling Somewhat Better

Today is the first time I've felt like turning on my computer since Thursday.  This cold struck all of a sudden and really took me out.  I didn't get more than an hour sleep at a time Thursday or Friday nights.  Up and down, up and down.  If I wasn't blowing my nose, I was coughing up junk that didn't get blown out of my nose earlier.

I finally got 3 continuous hours of sleep under a comforter on the sofa yesterday morning between 10am and 1pm.  Last night was a little better, and this morning I actually ate something other than a bowl of chicken soup.  First food I've had since this cold came on.

Except for the requirements of the dog, I haven't been out of the house since Thursday either, and I expect I won't get out too much until Monday or maybe even Tuesday.  By then I should be pretty much over this thing.

  • What Would I Change In My Life?

The Kween_of_Queens writing challenge for the first half of March is to identify what sort of change I could use in my life.  I was all set to write about how I would very much like my lack of drive and its accompanying failing memory to be reversed.  It's not the Big "A" or anything.  It's just the normal slow down common when people begin to age.

Anyway, I was going to write something along those lines, but then this morning I woke up with that "silverfish/slug" feeling in my throat, and I've been going around my place all morning with a box of Puffs Plus at the ready.  I've also been gargling with Listerine all day, and my nose won't stop generating mucus.

So now I think I would just like this cold, or whatever it is, to pass me by.  That would make me very, very happy.  It would also make my friends happy if I could make my luncheon date with them tomorrow.  My hairdresser would be happy too because I'm supposed to get my hair cut on Saturday.  And did I mention how very, very happy I would be.

So what change do I need or want.  To be rid of this cold!  That's what.  I could live with that.

    Cheers.

  • The Life Of A Dog

Hi everyone.  My name is Billie.  My mistress tells me that someone called Featured_Grownups is interested in knowing something about me.  She says that this Featured_Grownups person (and a whole bunch of other folks) lives inside this infernal contraption I'm banging on with my paws, and that if I'm real careful, all this banging will make some sense to y'all.  I don't know nothin' about all that stuff, but I trust her, so if you really want to know something about me and my life, here it is.

I'm an English Cocker Spaniel.  English!  That's very important.  I am definitely not that little imitation Spaniel that most Americans think of.  That means I'm not a lap dog.  I weigh almost 15 pounds more and I'm about 3" taller than that other guy.  I'm also longer, and I don't bark as much; but when I do bark, it sounds like it's coming all the way from my back end (if you know what I mean).  In other words, I have a deep, husky bark sufficient enough to give any intruder a reason to reconsider his action.  But just between you and me, it's all noise.  I wouldn't hurt anyone.  And besides, I don't bark at strangers.  I like people.  My mistress taught me that.

They tell me that I'm six years old now, or about 36 in human years, and that I was born in a place called Florida.  I don't remember much about my first five years, and no one seems to be able to tell me anything about them.  All I know for sure is that I remember moving around a lot in search for food.  Then one day some folks tried to catch me and put me in a truck, but I outsmarted them.  I ran and hid; but they were persistent.  I kept them hopping for 4 or 5 weeks before one of them got lucky and hit me with a throwing net, causing me to get my feet all tangled up.  Then he put me in a cage like some common animal from the more wild parts of the world.  It wasn't fair, them treatin' me like that, 'ya know.  I mean it's not like I was a cat or something worse.

Anyway,  after a few weeks I'd just about given up hope of ever getting out of that cage when one day this nice lady came along and rescued me.  I didn't even know her, but she got me out of the prison, so I knew she couldn't be all bad.  She took me to her home in Northern Virginia.

I was kind of scared at first, but she treats me real good.  I get to eat regular meals without having to hunt all day for what scraps I can find, and there's always plenty of fresh water, though if the truth be known, I still like to sneak some drinks out of roadside puddles when she's not looking.  She even bought me a nice winter coat, which sure came in handy during the long cold spell we had up here in the north country this year.  She also bought some things she calls toys.  I don't see too much use for them, but once in a while I like to rub myself against them when I'm not otherwise engaged in more important things like taking a nap on this really nice bed she bought for me.

My mistress and I go for some nice walks several times everyday.  That's really cool.  I like to go walking in the fresh air and smelling the nice green grass.  I think my mistress does too -- the air part at least.  She doesn't seem to like the grass smelling part as much as I do, but that's okay.  The only thing is that she won't walk as fast as I want to walk, and she won't let me run and chase the squirrels and the rabbits and the cats.  I miss that.  You see, I was born to the field, meaning that my nature is to hunt and to chase down small game.  This lady, as nice as she is, won't let me do that except when she takes me to someplace she calls a dog park.  I like the dog park, because I can run free there.  Unfortunately, there don't seem to be as many rabbits and squirrels there as in the neighborhood where I live, but the ground is covered with the scent of many animals, so I know it's only a question of time before I spot them, and the chase will be on.

Oh well, I guess that's a small enough price to pay for the benefits of having a real home --  especially when she gets down on the floor and starts to rub my belly.  Ahhh.  Heaven on earth.
