Muammar Gaddafi's Death
Muammar Gaddafi is dead, and Libya can now begin the long process of recovery from that man's 42 year rein of terror. At home, the news of Gaddafi's death hit the relatives of the Pan Am 103 bombing in different ways. The brother of one of those killed in the Pan Am 103 bombing was recorded saying that it's too bad that Gaddafi could not die multiple times.
I can understand that feeling. No one wants to be known for wishing someone would be killed, or would die horribly; but while we say we don't want revenge, we often do. That's only natural when a loved on is lost. For those that feel that way, their wish may have come true.
It is being reported out of Tripoli that when the caravan that Gaddafi was riding in was bombed, he crawled out of his vehicle and into a sewer line, from which he was dragged screaming and begging for his life. According the news report I saw, he was then pummeled, kicked, and beaten with his own shoes (the ultimate insult in Muslim society) before being shot in the back of the head. His body was then paraded through the streets on the hood of a vehicle while people danced and chanted something about the blood of the martyrs not being in vain.
So if you are one of those who wish he could have died multiple times or in some horrible fashion, you may have gotten your wish. If the report is true, he did not go quietly into that long night. And in death, he is being further humiliated in the Muslim world by not being honored with a proper burial. Rather, his body has been thrown into a meat locker while those in control decide what to do with it.
Update: After leaving his body to lie around in the freezer for a couple of days, he was subjected to a public viewing for those who wanted to make sure he was dead. His body was then taken out into the desert and buried at a secret site.

It's reported that he was buried in an unmarked grave in a secret spot in the desert. The only thing that worries me is that he will eventually be replaced by a wild-eyed religious leader. Saddam, too. Both he and Saddam were little or no threat to us, as they were simply blowhards.
@dsullivan - No thse guys weren't just "blowhards". They were both pretty brutal tyrants who terrorized much of their country's population and Gaddaffi did order the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland.
There is no particular reason why their replacement leaders have to be completely acceptable to the US - just more acceptable to their own citizens and not threaten us.
@tychecat - I didn't say they weren't brutal tyrants, Dick, they were indeed--as are many other leaders around the world. We gonna go kill all of 'em?
Yes, Qaddafi authorized a terrorist act, but for the most part he was a big blowhard as far as being a serious threat to our country. But a fanatical religious leader won't worry about consequences as he believes God is on his side.
Both tyrants are as evil as Hitler or Stalin, but I class them as blowhards because they didn't have the power of a Hitler or Stalin at their disposal.
